Best social media management tools for agencies in 2026
Choosing a social media tool for an agency is a different job from choosing one for a single brand. You are paying for seats, client separation, approvals and reports, and the bill tends to grow every time you sign a client. This guide compares ten tools on the pricing they publish as of October 2026, with one real strength and one real limitation for each.
A disclosure up front: we make Monarchly, one of the ten. We have tried to be straight about where other tools are the better choice, and there are several.
What agencies actually need
- Seats. How many teammates, freelancers and clients can log in, and whether each one adds to the bill.
- Client workspaces. A separate space per client, so content, inboxes and reports never mix.
- Approvals. A manager, or the client, signs off before anything goes live.
- Reporting. Branded reports you can send every month without rebuilding them in slides.
- Many accounts per platform. One client can easily have two Instagram accounts and a regional Facebook Page, and per-profile caps add up fast.
The tools price these very differently: per user (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Agorapulse), per channel (Buffer), per bundle of profiles (SocialBee, SocialPilot, Vista Social, Later), per client workspace (Sendible), or per accounts on each network (Monarchly). Which one is cheapest for you depends on whether your agency has more people, more clients or more accounts.
The short version
- Hootsuite: from $99 per user/month, billed annually. Best for larger teams that need listening, governance and integrations.
- Sprout Social: from $79 per seat/month, billed annually. Best for reporting-heavy clients with the budget to match.
- Agorapulse: from $79 per user/month, billed annually. Best for teams that live in the inbox.
- Sendible: from $35/month with unlimited users. Best for many small clients, each in its own workspace.
- SocialPilot: from $30/month. Best for client approvals and white-label reports on a budget.
- Vista Social: from $99/month. Best for a broad feature set at mid-market prices.
- SocialBee: from $29/month, agency plans from $179/month. Best for category-based, evergreen content calendars.
- Later: from $25/month. Best for visual, Instagram- and TikTok-led brands.
- Buffer: free for 3 channels, then from $5 per channel/month billed yearly. Best for small rosters that want simple billing.
- Monarchly: free plan, paid plans from $12/month. Best when you run several accounts on the same network.
1. Hootsuite
Who it suits: mid-size and larger agencies, or in-house teams, that need listening, governance and connections into the rest of the business.
- Pricing: Standard $99, Professional $199 and Advanced $399 per user/month, billed annually; Enterprise is custom. Standard covers 10 social accounts, Professional and up are unlimited. Monthly billing costs more. 14-day free trial.
- Strength: breadth. Even Standard includes a unified inbox, social listening and competitor benchmarking, and Enterprise adds advanced listening with 13 months of history, single sign-on and a Salesforce integration.
- Limitation: approval workflows start on Advanced, at $399 per user/month. A three-person team that needs sign-off is looking at about $1,200 a month on annual billing, before any Enterprise extras.

2. Sprout Social
Who it suits: agencies whose clients expect polished analytics and listening, and pay accordingly.
- Pricing: Essentials $79 per seat/month billed annually ($99 billed monthly) with 5 social profiles; Standard $199 with 5 profiles; Professional $299 with unlimited profiles; Advanced $399; Enterprise custom. 30-day free trial.
- Strength: reporting depth. Professional adds competitor, tag and paid insights, Advanced adds sentiment analysis and team productivity reports, and Premium Analytics and Listening are available as add-ons from Standard up.
- Limitation: cost scales with every seat, and the two cheaper plans stop at 5 profiles. Approval workflows start on Professional, and approvals that include outside stakeholders, such as clients, start on Advanced.
Our Sprout Social vs Monarchly comparison puts the two side by side.
3. Agorapulse
Who it suits: agencies where most of the day goes to replying to comments and messages.
- Pricing: Standard $79, Professional $119 and Advanced $149 per user/month billed annually ($99, $149 and $199 billed monthly); Custom on request. Each plan includes 10 social profiles, and extra profiles cost $10/month each on annual billing or $15 monthly. 30-day free trial, no card.
- Strength: the inbox. Custom inbox views and assignments from Professional, plus labels, saved replies, automated moderation rules and bulk actions on Advanced, make it one of the strongest tools here for high-volume engagement.
- Limitation: per-user pricing with a 10-profile allowance gets expensive as clients pile up, and client-facing features sit high: one-step approvals start on Professional, the client Profile Connector on Advanced, and multi-step approvals only on Custom.
4. Sendible
Who it suits: agencies with many small clients that want each one in its own workspace and do not want to count logins.
- Pricing: Core $35/month (1 workspace, 6 profiles), Plus $99 (3 workspaces, 18 profiles), Premium $199 (7 and 42), Elite $299 (15 and 90), Enterprise $750 (50 and 300). Paying yearly lowers each price; Core drops to $31. Unlimited users on every plan. 14-day free trial.
- Strength: it is built around clients. Every client gets a workspace, Client Connect lets clients link their own profiles without sharing passwords, and Plus adds assignments and approvals.
- Limitation: profiles come in fixed blocks of six per workspace, so a seventh profile means the next plan up. Replying to comments is limited to Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, and white-labelling is a paid add-on on Elite and Enterprise only.
5. SocialPilot
Who it suits: cost-conscious agencies that need client approvals and white-label reports without enterprise pricing.
- Pricing: Essentials $30/month (7 accounts, 1 user), Standard $50 (15 accounts, 3 users), Premium $100 (25 accounts, 6 users), Ultimate $200 (50 accounts, unlimited users); Enterprise custom. Yearly billing saves 15%. Extra accounts are $4/month and extra users $5/month. 14-day free trial.
- Strength: agency features at a mid-range price. Premium includes client management, unlimited client seats, client approval workflows and white-label reports for $100 a month.
- Limitation: the entry plans are thin for agency work. Essentials has no social inbox, client tools start at Premium, and the fully white-labelled experience is Ultimate-only.
6. Vista Social
Who it suits: agencies that want a lot of functionality, including DM automations and listening, in one mid-priced tool.
- Pricing: Professional $99/month (15 profiles, 2 users), Advanced $199 (30 profiles, 3 users), Scale $449 (70 profiles, 4 users); Enterprise custom. Yearly billing saves 20%. 14-day free trial.
- Strength: features per dollar. Advanced adds approval workflows that can include clients, plus Zapier and Make integrations; Scale adds white-label and lets clients connect their own profiles. Listening on your own profiles is included.
- Limitation: included users are few (2 to 4), X is a $29/month add-on on every plan, and listening across the wider web, news and social starts at $75/month extra.
7. SocialBee
Who it suits: small agencies and freelancers who run evergreen, category-based content calendars.
- Pricing: Bootstrap $29/month (5 profiles), Accelerate $49 (10 profiles), Pro $99 (25 profiles, 5 workspaces). Agency plans: Pro50 $179 (50 profiles, 10 workspaces), Pro100 $329 (100 and 20), Pro150 $449 (150 and 30). Annual billing is about 16% less. 14-day free trial.
- Strength: content categories. You sort posts into categories such as tips, promos and client news, and SocialBee fills the schedule from them, recycling evergreen posts so a calendar never runs dry. Post approvals start on Accelerate.
- Limitation: seats are capped per workspace: one user on Bootstrap and Accelerate, three on Pro, five on the agency plans. Bigger teams pay for add-ons.
8. Later
Who it suits: agencies running visual, Instagram- and TikTok-led brands, especially where link-in-bio matters.
- Pricing: Starter $25/month (1 social set, 1 user), Growth $50 (2 sets, 2 users), Scale $110 (6 sets, 4 users); paying yearly saves 25%, so Starter works out to $18.75. A social set is one profile each on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Snapchat. 14-day free trial.
- Strength: visual planning. The drag-and-drop Visual Planner and Link in Bio pages suit grid-driven brands well, and Growth adds internal and external approvals plus a social inbox.
- Limitation: a social set holds one profile per network, so a client with two Instagram accounts uses two sets. X is not on the list of networks in a set, and Starter caps scheduling at 30 posts per profile per month.
Our Later vs Monarchly comparison covers the multi-account side.
9. Buffer
Who it suits: freelancers and small agencies with a modest number of channels who want simple, predictable billing.
- Pricing: free for 3 channels and 1 user. Essentials is $5 per channel/month billed yearly (about $6 billed monthly) for 1 user; Team is $10 per channel/month billed yearly (about $12 monthly) with unlimited team members. Channels past the tenth are discounted. 14-day free trial.
- Strength: simple, fair scaling. You pay per channel, so losing a client lowers the bill, and Team includes unlimited users, approval workflows, per-channel permissions and branded reports.
- Limitation: it is publishing-first. Its plans include no social listening or competitor tracking, and reporting is lighter than the enterprise suites.
Our Buffer vs Monarchly comparison goes deeper.
10. Monarchly
Who it suits: creators, small agencies and operators who run several accounts on the same network, such as a main account, a backup and a handful of client accounts, and want one flat price. This is our product.
- Pricing: Free ($0, 3 networks with 1 account each, analytics, unified inbox and a small AI allowance). Starter $12/month (1 account per network), Creator $29 (3 per network), Pro $59 (5 per network), Agency $99 (10 per network). Paying yearly saves 20%. AI is metered by use: Pro and Agency include $20 and $60 a month of it, Starter and Creator pay as they go from prepaid credits. 7-day trial on Creator, 14-day on Pro.
- Strength: many accounts per platform at a flat price. Agency covers up to 10 accounts on each network for $99 a month, while Hootsuite's Standard plan, at $99 per user/month billed annually, covers 10 accounts in total. Each account gets a role (main, backup, client and others), and one post can go to several accounts on the same network at once.
- Limitation: it is younger and narrower for agency teams. Monarchly is built around one owner running many accounts; the Agency plan can invite teammates by email with roles (admin, editor or viewer), but per-client workspaces and deeper team workflows are still on the roadmap, so a large agency team may be better served by a seat-based tool. Its listening and reporting are also lighter than Sprout Social's or Hootsuite's, and it connects to 11 networks today (X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Discord, Bluesky, Mastodon, Pinterest and Telegram), with LinkedIn coming soon.
Pro adds approval workflows, competitor tracking and social listening; Agency adds white-label branding and client reports you can share by link. Plans are on our pricing page.
How to choose
Start from your biggest cost driver, not the longest feature list.
- Large clients who want listening, sentiment and deep reports, with a budget to match: Sprout Social or Hootsuite.
- Most of your hours go into replying to comments and DMs: Agorapulse.
- Lots of small clients and lots of people who need a login: Sendible, where users are unlimited and every client gets a workspace.
- Client approvals and white-label reports on a tight budget: SocialPilot, or Vista Social if you want more built in.
- Evergreen, category-driven calendars: SocialBee.
- Visual, Instagram- and TikTok-first brands: Later.
- A handful of channels and a preference for simple: Buffer.
- Several accounts on the same network, priced flat: Monarchly.
Whatever you shortlist, run two trials side by side with one real client's week of content: connect their accounts, schedule the posts, send one through approval and pull a report. An afternoon of that tells you more than any comparison, this one included.
